Jen and Bob’s wedding at Puketutu Island Estate had everything we love about a wedding day: emotional moments, unpredictable Auckland weather, plenty of laughter, and one seriously impressive dance floor.
The day began with a first look, although Bob did not quite get the romantic moment he was expecting. One of their male friends dressed up and pretended to be Jen, walking up behind Bob for the big reveal. His reaction was absolutely priceless! Once the real Jen appeared, the laughter quickly turned into a beautifully emotional moment between the two of them.
The ceremony was originally planned for outside, but a last-minute decision was made to move everything indoors. It turned out to be the perfect call, as the rain arrived just before the ceremony began. Luckily, Puketutu Island Estate has so many gorgeous indoor spaces that the ceremony still felt elegant, warm, and full of natural light.
There was barely a dry eye in the room. Jen was incredibly emotional throughout the ceremony, and her tears quickly spread through the guests. These are always some of our favourite moments to capture as an Auckland wedding photographer—the expressions, little glances, and reactions that happen naturally when everyone is fully present.
After the ceremony, the rain cleared just in time for us to head outside for portraits. We made the most of the estate’s beautiful gardens, historic architecture, and dramatic skies. The fresh rain gave everything such a rich, romantic feel, proving once again that a little unpredictable weather can create some truly stunning photographs.
The celebrations continued with heartfelt speeches, plenty of laughter, and an incredible atmosphere on the dance floor. Jen and Bob set the standard high with their choreographed first dance before everyone joined them for a huge night of dancing.
From the emotional ceremony to the energetic reception, photographing and providing wedding videography for Jen and Bob’s day was an absolute joy. It was the perfect mix of fun, romance, and completely unforgettable moments.
