As an Auckland wedding photographer, I get to witness love stories that unfold in the most breathtaking corners of New Zealand. Ally and Henry’s wedding on Waiheke Island was one of those days that felt straight out of a dream—complete with sunshine, designer gowns, windswept views, and heartfelt vows.
Though based in the USA, Ally and Henry chose to say “I do” in New Zealand, gathering friends and family from across the globe. It was more than a wedding—it was a destination celebration, and Waiheke Island delivered in every way.
The day began at the beautiful Putiki Estate. Overlooking the bays, Ally and Henry shared their first look on the terrace, the wind tugging gently at Ally’s Vera Wang gown as Henry turned around with a beaming smile. It was a quiet, personal moment that perfectly set the tone for what was to come.
From the very beginning, the energy was electric. Bridesmaids and groomsmen brought fun, laughter, and the best kind of chaos to the morning. Everyone was dressed to the nines - this was a high-end affair, and it showed. From tailored tuxes to elegant gowns, every guest looked like they’d stepped off a magazine spread.
The ceremony and reception were held at the iconic Mudbrick Vineyard. With its stone paths, lush vines, and views over the Hauraki Gulf, it’s one of Waiheke’s most magical venues. The weather gave us everything we could hope for - blue skies, golden light, and a breeze that added just the right touch of drama to the day.
Ally and Henry exchanged private vows during the ceremony, and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. It was one of those rare moments that made everyone feel part of something intimate and real. There was laughter, there were tears, and there was so much love you could feel it in the air.
As the sun began to set over the hills, the sky turned soft and golden. We stepped away for portraits, capturing the two of them among the vines with the warm light wrapping around them. It was the kind of sunset that makes you pause—and the kind every Auckland wedding photographer dreams of.
The reception carried on into the night with heartfelt speeches, dancing, and the kind of joy that comes from being surrounded by the people who matter most.
