Have you ever had a wedding the day after the biggest rainfall in Auckland history? Well, Sherry and Jackie did, and what a story they have to tell about it!

As the night before rained and stormed like no other, the possibility of that immaculate, “perfect” wedding day seemed to be running away before our very eyes.

But love and marriage are about overcoming adversity together and staying strong no matter what. With a last minute venue, care hire, lighting, AND DJ cancellation, the entire bridal party (and us!) were scrambling on the day of to will this stunning wedding to still happen.

And what a stunning wedding it was!

Having flown all the way over from Sydney, Australia, to get married in Jackie’s home of Auckland, New Zealand, there’s something to be said for crossing the wildest of distances and still letting love flourish.

In traditional Chinese wedding fashion, the morning started off with a series of Gate Crashing games for Jackie to prove his worth marrying Sherry.

Laughs were had, worthiness was proved (perhaps, even with one of the groomsmen chickening out of some leg waxing!), and of course both the bride and groom had those absolutely gorgeous Chinese wedding outfits in brilliant sparkling reds and yellows.

After the Gate Crashing games, the couple took their swanky wedding transportation—a bridal car decorated with ribbons!—to their next destination for the bridal suite and tea ceremony with as much extended family as could fit! Relatives even Zoomed in to wish the soon-to-be married couple well.

Finally, it was time for Sherry and Jackie to get ready for the Western portion of their wedding, in their newly-acquired venue at Titirangi Golf Club. Amazingly, after a full day of historic rain yesterday, there was hardly a single drop of rain today!

Walking into the venue, it was amazing to see the full decor transformation with all the lovingly curated details the bridal couple had designed come together.

What a touching and beautiful ceremony Sherry and Jackie had! Chock full of basketball references, stock market teases, and the tender admittance of love, the couple finally got to tie the knot (#TsaitheKnot, excellent hashtag choice guys) under the guide of our lovely Auckland wedding celebrant Tasha Bowen!

After a lovely reception of immaculate dinners and speeches, it was time for the party to begin.

Sherry and Jackie had a creative flair to EVERYTHING they’d planned for the big day—from exciting couple games, to a unique bouquet toss that included not only the single girls but also the single men, and a mandatory exit limbo!!

Most beautifully, they both had planned a lovely choreographed dance to the gasps of awe of their audience, and a song to sing to their parents to showcase their gratitude for them. Who knew this couple was so freakin talented!!

And with that, this fairytale New Zealand wedding facing a flood, last minute wedding planning, and all odds, ended so sweetly with our signature night shoot, of course!
