A Lively Chilean Wedding

The recent pandemic caused by COVID-19 taught us many lessons, but I believe the most important one is that time with our loved ones is precious. Daniela and Tom had big plans for their wedding, they wanted to head back to Chile to have a grand celebration, but same as many couples around the world, their plans had to change. Since they didn't want to wait until things were settled to have the wedding, they envisioned they decided to get married here in New Zealand.

The celebration happened at a family property, a beautiful estate with magnificent gardens, green lawns, and tall threes surrounded the gathering. And to top it all off, they got married during the cherry blossoming season; what a beautiful time of the year to say I do!

As many weddings during the pandemic, this one had many family members and friends far away, but we currently have many ways to connect even while away. The couple decided to broadcast their wedding and had a large screen to see all the family who could not make it physically.

Being away from Chile did not mean the traditions would be cut off from the wedding; during the reception, Daniela and Tom wore a traditional Chilean outfit and danced to a Spanish band. Everyone joined them and had a dance-off. Have always wanted to capture something like this myself and as an Auckland wedding photographer, thought I’d never get the chance!

Some other traditions were the bouquet tossing and the garter toss too, the reception was full of fun moments, and the guests even blew bubbles! Such a fun wedding. The property's natural setting was the perfect setting to take the couple's portraits and pictures with the bridal party. They were all laughing; Daniela and Tom are a clear example of how love can never be canceled even if the whole world stops.
