If you asked me for an example of a perfectly done DIY Auckland wedding... Claire and Aaron's would be it! Everything from the venue to the decor, the marquee to the haybale seats, and even the home grown flowers and boquets by family members! And wow did everything turn out beautiful!

When we met for coffee, I knew instantly that I wanted to shoot their big day! You could see how much energy and love for life and each other straight away. The day we met was coincidently Aaron's birthday, and the cake shop got his name wrong, writing "Happy birthday Suzzie", and so we decided to call him Suzzie from then on.

There are many that love animals, but I believe Claire and Aaron set new standards for that category. I'll only say that the family hierarchy would be Claire, then an equal spot for their dogs and horse, Marley, and finally Aaron. Now you can see the picture.

Marley, the horse, made a special appearance during the day, and I got the task of capturing Claire in her beautiful wedding dress along with her beloved Marley; the result was delightful. Horses are such expressive and imponent animals; he played the part flawlessly.

The level of DIY for this wedding is incomparable; the family decided to plant and grow the flowers over a year ahead so they would be ready for the big day! Such special details make a wedding even more memorable. You could see how much love was put into the centerpieces, the place cards, and the bar.

And naturally, Claire arrived at the ceremony in a combi. After the ceremony, we went to take some amazing photos with the bridal party in a natural setting. A waterfall, a railroad, a rustic fence, and the stables were ideal backdrops for this laid-back and rustic wedding, a true dream come true for any Auckland wedding photographer.

Everyone had fun there, no doubt about it, especially during the speeches when dad decided to tell a some rather r18 jokes. All the guests danced the night away, and even the pups joined in; it was a beautiful wedding and I am 100% sure the memories will last a lifetime and more!
