55 acres of nature, green rolling hills, bushes, and trees are all you see as you enter Hedges Estate. And if the outdoors takes your breath away, you must wait to see the beautiful indoors, where your reception can be hosted. The property offers plenty of spaces for your outdoor ceremony and wedding photos.
Imagine a sunny summer evening or perhaps a cloudy afternoon; you arrive at Hedges Estate and walk through the gardens and the front lawn to the glade, an open area with stunning views where your guests wait patiently, surrounded by Totara trees and bushes. With plenty of space and capacity for up to 120 people, you’re sure to be able to invite everyone you want to!
And if you are more into traditional ceremonies, the front lawn is ideal for you. Surrounded by roses, perfectly trimmed hedges, and magnificent rural views.
Otherwise (and our favourite!), the glade at the back of the property is a perfect and almost magical setting! Surrounded by trees, your guests won’t have to wait for the big event in the sun, staying nice and chilled. And when the time finally comes, you and the wedding party can stand in the middle of the glade with the sunlight lighting you up, a scene fit for Hollywood!
But those are only a couple of ideas; because the rest of the property offers many beautiful areas for a unique ceremony, you can find the perfect little spot to tie the knot.
The stunning main building is also perfect for a wedding reception, filled with natural light coming in from the many French doors and a magnificent skylight. The beautiful rural landscape enters the venue when you open the doors, making it seem like a realistic painting is hanging from the wall, although it is real, and you can feel the breeze and the smell of fresh air.
Neutral tones make this wedding venue perfect for any theme and color scheme; rustic tables and white chairs complement the atmosphere. You can turn the versatile space into a luxurious reception, a laidback bohemian wedding, or a romantic evening with plenty of candles and flowers.

The Owners
When you book at Hedges Estate, you get Fleur and Grant, a epic duo that knows how truly goes above and beyond what owners. If the stars align, Fleur may be able to bring along Boots or one of the other well trained horses for the bride and groom to get a few magical shots in. Grant on the other hand is all about the vintage cars and may, depending on the day, be able to take you on a quick ride on his vintage MG to get those epic sunset photos!
Surf and Turn
If you feel that the beautifully manicured gardens, perfectly trimmed hedge and the magical glade still aren’t enough, Karioitahi Beach is just 10 minutes away if you (and maybe the wedding party!) want a few of those epic beach shots!

Getting married at Hedges Estate was the best decision my husband and I have made apart from getting married!! Over the past six months we have been to numerous weddings at numerous locations and were nervous after some of the stories we heard and things we saw. However Fleur and Grant were amazing to deal with, going out of their way to ensure we had the best possible day and accommodating us without hesitation with every request we had.
From the very first day we met Fleur she was engaged, interested and accommodating to all of the planning needs and changes we wanted to make to suit our special day. No request was too much such as making changes to a table to fit our bridal party’s needs and she was genuinely interested in our ideas and helping us realise and grow them. Hedges Estate is a beautiful facility, second to none, all of the guests we spoke to about the venue had only good things to say about the facility, including comments about the view throughout the day, at the reception and when the sun was setting and many of our to be wedded friends were jealous we found the venue before they did.
But what makes Hedges Estate stand out from the rest is the people who run it. Making your special day run according to your plans and as smoothly as possible is their forte and clearly their passion. I had the pleasure of attending my sister’s wedding recently. Hedges Estate is stunning and cleancut with its beautifulgarden. It’s new orangery is also a spectacular addition. I was heavily involved with the organising for the day. Having dealt with other hosts in the past with prior weddings, Fleur and Grant went above and beyond to make sure the day was perfect. They are the most genuine and friendly people I have met. They opened up their beautiful home for us to use and at no stage did we feel we were dealing with business owners which made our day a lot more relaxed.
