There’s something magical about photographing a couple so deeply in love, and Austin and Katie’s wedding day was exactly that—magic.

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. The sun was shining bright, the sky was clear, and a gentle breeze floated through the fields around the Nocturn Wool Shed. It was one of those golden days where everything feels just right. The Nocturn Wool Shed is a stunning venue tucked away in the countryside, full of rustic charm and surrounded by peaceful farmland. With friendly animals roaming in the background, it created a relaxed and joyful atmosphere that made everyone feel right at home.

The ceremony itself was heartwarming and full of laughter, tears, and all the right emotions. Surrounded by friends, family, and the gentle hum of nature, Austin and Katie said their vows under a wooden arch decorated with flowers and greenery. As they were announced husband and wife, they walked hand-in-hand up the aisle through a shower of confetti that seemed to hang in the air like tiny stars.

After the ceremony, guests mingled outside, enjoying drinks and nibbles in the sunshine while the animals curiously watched from the nearby paddocks. The rustic setting of the Nocturn Wool Shed made every photo pop with character, and I couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop to capture all the little moments between the newlyweds and their guests.

One of the most unique and memorable parts of the day came during the reception. Austin’s family has a wonderful tradition where each branch of the extended family has their own dance. Now that Katie was officially part of the crew, a brand-new dance was created just for her and her side of the family. Watching everyone cheer and join in was a perfect way to welcome Katie into the fold and start a new family tradition.

Then came the first dance—and wow, what a show! Austin and Katie had clearly put in some serious practice. Their dance was full of energy, with lifts, spins, and even some impressive jumps! It was fun, heartfelt, and had everyone cheering from the first step to the final spin. You could see how much fun they were having, and it was the perfect way to kick off the party.

And what a party it was! As the night went on, the dance floor stayed packed. Laughter, music, and happy tears filled the wool shed until late into the evening. People danced like no one was watching (maybe except me 🤟) and it felt like the celebration could have gone on forever. It was the kind of night where memories are made, and I feel so lucky to have been there to capture it all.

As an Auckland wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing many beautiful celebrations, but this one had a truly special energy from start to finish.
