Magical West coast Engagement Photo
A couple, a stunning sunset, and a slightly overzealous photographer (me) trying not to lose a camera in the process. That pretty much sums up Maddie and Liam's engagement photoshoot at Hamilton's Gap – an adventure that turned out to be wet, wild, and absolutely worth it.
We hit the jackpot with the timing because, wouldn't you know it, the tides decided to join the party just as the sun was showing off its evening glow. As we set up shop along the rocky shores, it became apparent that we were in for a splash – both from the waves and my valiant attempt at acrobatics to save said camera.
Maddie and Liam held onto each other like they were in the last scene of some sort of romantic movie, waves crashing around them, the wind doing that perfectly-tousled-hair thing. It was all very cinematic, and I was just there hoping my camera would survive the watery chaos.
Walking along the sands post-wave-drama, Maddie and Liam seemed to exist in their own little world. At times, I swear they forgot I was trailing behind them with a camera, capturing every stolen glance and shared laugh. I guess that's when you know a couple is truly lost in the moment – photographer be damned.
What blew my mind was when they mentioned being "bad in front of a camera." Honestly, they would have been the perfect model for any wedding photographer. Casual, effortless, and stunning as heck. It's like they were born to be the cover couple for a romance novel set against a dramatic coastline.
As the sun dipped low, casting a warm, golden glow over everything, Maddie and Liam's engagement photoshoot became a real-life love story unfolding against the backdrop of Hamilton's Gap. The rugged beauty of the location mirrored the adventure of their relationship, and my “Almost” soaked camera was a small sacrifice for the breathtaking shots we snagged.
In the end, it was more than just a photoshoot; it was an evening of laughs and an Auckland wedding photographer doing his best not to get swept away by the tide. Maddie and Liam, you two are so gorgeous and I can't wait to see what your wedding day brings – hopefully with fewer rogue waves. Cheers to love, adventure, and slightly soggy cameras! 🌊💕
